Vengara, Gurdasur by-election results, live counting updates on result day (15-10-2017) i.e. 15th October, winner candidate, party wise votes, leads among (IUML /UDF, LDF / CPM, BJP in vengara) & (AAP, INC congress, BJP in Gurdaspur) will be provided here. being a muslim dominated area, Vengara is a stronghold of the UDF and Kunhalikutty won the seat in the 2016 assembly polls defeating P P Basheer of CPM and the third closest was LDF candidate M B Faisal while BJP was left far behind. six candidates remained in the competition including IUML rebel candidate K. Hamsa and another independent candidate. gurdaspur seat had been vacant after the death of Vinod Khanna in April this year and thus this bypoll was necessitated. Vinod had joined the bharatiya janata party in 1997 from the Gurdaspur constituency between 1998 to 2009 and he lost in the 2009 elections. however In the 2014 general election he was again elected for the 16th Lok sabha from the same constituency. previously in the year 2002 he became the minister for Culture and Tourism and then the Minister of State for external affairs.

The Vengara seat is vacant due to the resignation of P K Kunhalikutty (national general secretary of IUML) as MLA to contest in the Lok Sabha bypoll in Malappuram constituency in April which was necessitated by the demise of E Ahamed. PK Kunhalikutty is currently the MP of Malappuram constituency. He was also the Minister for Industries and Information Technology in the Government of Kerala. The three major candidates are LDF’s P.P Basheer, UDF’s K.N.A Khader and BJP’s K. Janachandran.

Vengara is a town in Malappuram district of Kerala state and is a 'special grade' panchayath (until recently converted in to an assembly seat in delimitation) situated in Tirurangadi Taluk.
among many notable educational institutes nearby are Jawahar navodaya vidyalaya, Malabar College of Advanced Studies and tourism places like Nilambur, Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary, Nedumkayam Rainforest, Adyanpara Waterfalls, Kodikuthimala, Mini Ooty, Kottakunnu to name a few.

Election Commission’s Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme was covered in all wards in the constituency. many pamphlets were distributed throughout the educational institutions, clubs and other voluntary organisations as part of the SVEEP to stree the importance of voting in a democracy.
it is said that 148 polling stations have been equipped with the ramp facility for the physically challenged. Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VPAT) machines are going to be used in the poll and electoral authorities have arranged 236 VPAT units and appointed 990 officials for the polling day.

the candidates competing for the Gurdaspur seat are Sunil Jakhar (congress INC), Swarn Singh Salariya (BJP), Suresh Khajuria (Aam Aadmi Party~AAP). 

Swarn Singh Salariya is the BJP candidate from the Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat for Punjab bypolls choosing him over the widow of vinod khanna who is kavitha kjanna. Aravind kejriwal's The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has named Major General (Retd) Suresh Khajuria as its candidate. the Congress announced that its state president Sunil Jakhar would contest the by-poll. Sunil Kumar Jakhar (member of the Indian National Congress(INC)) is the President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) and has been Elected continuously three times from the Abohar constituency in 2001, 2007 and 2012. The Gurdaspur seat was previously held by SAD-BJP alliance and the bypoll is a test of strength for the ruling parties in the Centre (BJP) and the state (Congress).

BJP (SWARN SINGH SALARIYA) -> -- 3,06,533 VOTES IN SECOND PLACE
