India's first women fighter pilots pics, names, training experiences details. Bhawana Kanth, Avani Chatuvedi and Mohana Singh were commissioned in the Indian Air Force. All the three ladies have cleared the first stage of training which is 150 hours experience in flying. There will be further training for six months. The three women have said that they have faced uncertainties and hazards of flying during their training sessions and have learnt to have more grit and determination to handle all odds while flying.

Cadet Avani Chaturvedi says that it all about "split second" decisions when a canopy warning audio was heard and she immediately landed the flight.

cadet Mohana Singh says that her first solo night sortie, flying was faced with bad weather, thunder, lightning and it was difficult for her to make out "between the stars in the sky and a far away lights on the ground. 



Visual cues were going against cues from the instrument. The effect - it was difficult to maintain or ascertain the altitude of the aircraft.

The training for these three female pilot took place at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal a few kilometers from Hyderabad, the three women were formally commissioned into Indian Air Force by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar. 



The three women are the first batch of female pilots inducted in an IAF fighter squadron. The event was reviewed by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar at the Air Force Academy in Hyderabad.
