This election has gone political as the TRS is desperate to win its side of people and the other parties like TDP and Congress have joined hands. The coal mines of SCCL are located in six districts of the TS state and the company's production of coal was more than sixty million tonnes in the year 2016. According to reports in various news channels -as per the directive of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, 92 polling booths have been set up across 11 areas in six districts of the coal belt for the employees to cast their votes. there was a stiff fight between Telangana Boggu Ghani Karmika Sangham (TBGKS), affiliated to the ruling TRS, and All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), affiliated to CPI, supported by national trade unions such as Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) of Congress, Telugu Nadu Trade Union Council (TNTUC) of Telugu Desam Party, and Hind Mazdoor Sangh (HMS), Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) and Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU).
